Building the Dulcimer

In 1995, I first met David and Annette Lindsey; musicians, and Dulcimer makers from North Texas (now living in Bennington, Oklahoma). After instantly falling in love with the sound of their instruments, I knew that he would not only need to play David's instruments, but eventually be a part of the building process. Boasting a floating soundboard, triple strings, and unique side rails, pin blocks, and tuning bracing, David's Dulcimers are not only a work of art, but are truly some of the best sounding instruments you will find.

The definition of the notes coupled with the warmth and deep resonance is something truly unique to David's instruments, and it is a major part, if not THE backbone to my sound. Since 2007, I have travelled to Oklahoma to apprentice with this great master and this past February 2020, right before Covid hit, I returned to David's shop to build a new instrument; one to withstand my style of play, as well as the nonstop touring career I have made for myself. Below are some of the photos I took while building this custom instrument.
